I had the honor of providing Lighting design for the first ever production of La Casa de Las Santas by Natalia Fuentes, a play in one act that unfolds across three generations of women in a poor colombian town
The Rosalind Project
An Immersive theatre experience based on Shakespeare's As You Like It. As production designer, I was tasked with converting a basement classroom into a theatre space, with audience seating, sets and lighting for a story that took place in 8 locations across 2 simutaneous timelines.
Upon entering the basement, audience members found themselves at the funeral of the titular character in the year 2020 - they received a program for the funeral (concealing the program for the play), a rose to give the grieving family when cued, and lines they were to deliver when prompted. Participants followed the characters through two more spaces before taking their seats in the main theatre space where the modern day story continued, juxtaposed with a timeline taking place 60 years earlier. Storytelling elements included props and sets, light and sounds cues, projection, and back-lit shadow play.
2020 vision
A local music festival produced for the 2020 new year. I was responsible for lights, backdrops, scenic elements, and installation art.
The party also featured "The Sweat Lodge", an installation and social space inspired by Native American sweat lodges. Made of bamboo, twine, and thrifted white sheets, participants were asked to remove their shoes, push aside the curtain of cloth and bells, and enter an enchanted intimate space to sit among cuhsions and oriental carpets, interact with eachother, smoke hookah, enjoy the smell of burning incense, and watch the dazzling 360 light show being projected from a shrine in the center.
