About
Thanks for taking the time to visit my website!
I’ve been making art for as long as I can remember. When I was a child, I was fascinated by the way that attention and craftsmanship can transform the value of objects and would fashion sculptures out of used packing foam, old cans, plastic containers, whatever I could get my hands on. I had the privilege of exposure to art classes from a very young age and was able to develop my talents, working with more traditional media like paint, wood, and metal.
I was fortunate enough to work on a number of public works projects and became fascinated by the power of art to bring communities together and define the way a space is perceived and experienced. After graduating high school, I lived in Berlin for a year on a competitive scholarship program sponsored by the US and German governments. In Berlin, I encountered a stunningly vibrant arts and cultural scene which championed self-expression, cultural experimentation, radical creativity, and community. In Berlin, I saw people taking to the streets with drill and paintbrush in hand, co-creating community spaces and transforming public parks into rich, visionary DIY vegetable gardens that allowed visitors to enter another world, a brief respite from the mechanical urbanscape.
As a production designer, my focus is on the creation of participatory art, interactive experiences and immersive environments. Public art has the ability create a total experience out of a narrative, taking storytelling to the next level. The psychology of how we perceive and interact with space can be used to powerfully convey emotions and inspire participants with a sense of wonder, a fresh appreciation for the beauty of life. Moreover, the inclusive nature of such spaces can bring participants closer together and create a bond of shared experience.
